Byzantine Weights, Circa 5-6th century. Weight of 1 Nomisma (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.40 g), a star-shaped coin weight for a solidus made from a follis of Honorius (393-423). [D N HON]ORIVS [P] F A[VG] Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Honorius to right; all overlaid by star of six rays formed out of three deeply engraved straight lines. Rev. Star of six rays formed out of three deeply engraved straight lines. A carefully engraved piece with attractive earthen highlights. Very fine.
